The Wongaburra Story

Caring for Our Community, Supporting Independence

About Us

Half a century ago, Wongaburra was created as a caring gesture by the people of Beaudesert, Queensland to enable the elderly to remain and live within their community.
The town retains the friendly and compassionate spirit that rural Australia is famous for and Wongaburra is the embodiment of that true community spirit.

On the 29th October 1965, the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce proposed the development and establishment of a home for aged people. The proposal immediately attracted the support of the community and in only five years the building was completed and officially opened by Dame Annabel Rankin on the 22nd August 1970.

Wongaburra has since evolved into both highly sophisticated centre for aging residents, as well as offering Home Care services to the local commuinity.

We are proud to support the lifestyle choices of the elderly in the community and surrounding areas.

At Wongaburra, our non-denominational governance reflects our dedication to transparency and ethical leadership. Led by committed members of the local community, our management team works to uphold the trust of residents, clients, and staff, as well as maintain compliance with federal and state regulations. We believe accountability is not just an obligation but a responsibility to everyone who entrusts us with their care. This approach ensures that every decision we make prioritises the well-being of those we serve.

Empowering Independence

Our-Commitment-02.jpg
We are firm believers in the capability of the elderly and disabled to make their own decisions about their lives. For those who face limitations, we actively encourage and support their participation in family and community roles. By fostering an environment where independence is respected and valued, we enable clients to maintain a sense of purpose and belonging. Every care plan we design reflects this commitment to preserving individuality and autonomy while offering the necessary support.

Inclusion and Family Involvement

Our-Commitment-03.jpg
Families and communities play a vital role in creating a supportive care environment. At Wongaburra, we work closely with relatives and community members to provide holistic, inclusive services. We recognise that loved ones bring valuable insights into the needs and preferences of our clients, and we aim to integrate their involvement into every aspect of care. This collaborative approach strengthens bonds and ensures that the care we provide is both personalised and meaningful.

A Safe and Respectful Environment

Our-Commitment-04.jpg
Safety and respect are cornerstones of our commitment to our clients and staff. We ensure that everyone under our care has the freedom to voice concerns without fear of reprisal. At the same time, we strive to maintain a safe, supportive workplace for all team members and volunteers. Emotional well-being is just as important as physical safety, and our approach guarantees that all individuals feel valued, heard, and protected.

Ethical Care Practices

Integrity is central to our caregiving philosophy. We take great care to protect client autonomy, particularly regarding personal and financial decisions. Our staff are trained to uphold ethical standards and avoid any undue influence over client choices. This ensures that every interaction prioritises fairness, transparency, and respect. Wongaburra’s focus on ethical care is part of our larger mission to support individuals’ rights and foster trust across all our services.
